Royals of Villain Academy 2: Vile Sorcery by Eva Chase

This is the second book in the Royals of Villain Academy series.

In a month, I’ve gone from magicless to one of the most powerful dark mages in the world. You’d think that would make my life easier.

But all that power is only potential until I learn how to wield it, and my enemies have a huge head start. While I’m picking up every skill I can, adversaries both within Villain Academy and beyond it are working to knock me down.

My fellow scions? I can count at least a couple of them among those enemies. The others… Let’s just say the lines between light and dark have gotten a lot more blurred.

Nothing’s safe here—not my mind, my heart, my magic, or the few people who’re proving themselves my allies. When the danger turns deadly, will I be able to save all of them and myself?

I enjoyed reading this book. The storyline is great, the plot develops well and the characters are great.

Rory is a great character. She’s having everything thrown at her, but still she stays strong. It’s great to see how much she’s developing as a character as the story progresses.

Malcolm is still an arsehole.

Connar also annoyed me in this book. He needs to get over himself really and stop doing every little thing Malcolm says. Rory has every right to dislike him. Jude actually almost came across alright compared to Connar and Malcolm. Almost. His unfair views are what let him down. Declan is still the best of them. I can understand his mindset, but I also think he still needs to grow a backbone. At least he’s being half decent though.

I think Rory needs to follow her instincts more. She knows the boys are dicks, Declan aside, and needs to stop falling for their charms.

I like the concept of the magic in this series. It’s got its own unique twist with the four different types.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this series. The storyline is enjoyable, the plot is good and runs at a good pace and the characters are great.
