This book is incredibly fast paced right from the beginning. It is very well written and is perfect for young adults. It can be silly at times with crazy plot twists and sometimes with what the boys actually say, but that is exactly what makes it perfect for teenagers. The type of writing works well with the storyline.
My favourite character was Meat. He is quite silly at times but had a fair amount of humour in his personality and actions as well. I particularly like the bit where he compared himself to Bilbo Baggins from The Lord Of The Rings. He is drawn to the dagger’s power straight away and struggles to fight against it. It left me feeling partially sorry for him.
I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I was quite sceptical starting it, but it surprised me. The ending was good and I think it’s been left open for a sequel, but it also could just be left where it is. It isn’t perfect because of how silly some of the story is, but it is an enjoyable read.
My rating: 4/5*
