Steel Empire (Broken Cross Book 3) by Bri Blackwood

This is the third book in the Broken Cross series, and the last of Damien and Anais story.

Our bond is steel.

We began to rebuild what we had,

Because I’m determined to make things right.

Someone is out to ruin me,

And they’re using Anais to do it.

Danger threatened to take her from me forever.

But what they don’t know,

Is when someone threatens what is mine,

There will be hell to pay

I enjoyed this book. It was a great ending to Damien and Anais’ story.

Damien and Anais were great characters. It was brilliant to see them both admit their true feelings for one another. The events at the beginning made them both realise the truth.

I think Damien in particular has had a brilliant character development. He really starts to open up to Anais in this book, and yet he is still the alpha at times. I’ve loved reading his story with Anais.

The storyline developed well and everything was all cleared up nicely. The plot complemented the character development well. The end was great and it also sets up well for Grace and Broderick’s story in the next book.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed reading this series and would definitely recommend it.

My rating: 5/5*

Scarred Empire (Broken Cross Book 2) by Bri Blackwood

This is the second book in the Broken Cross series.

She is scarred.

When I stormed into her life, it was supposed to be temporary.

Anais was supposed to be like the rest,

Then I became addicted.

My past caught up with me and she walked out before I could make her mine.

Tragedy strikes and I have no choice but to bring her back into my world.

In order to protect her, I convince her to wear my ring.

But I fear even I can’t protect her from the turmoil we’re about to face.

I loved the continuation of this story. The plot is great and the characters are brilliant.

Anais is a great character. She sticks up for herself and tried fighting back against Damien’s controlling ways, but ultimately, she realises that he hasn’t given her a choice once again. You kind of feel sorry for her.

Damien is fantastic, but he is also frustrating. He gives Anais no choice but to agree to be with him, which is definitely an arsehole move. She just wants to know that he actually wants her and he doesn’t show her that. I love his character development though and how he starts to see her more and realise what she needs. He starts listening. I really hope that he just opens up more and tells her how he really feels.

I like the plot and it’s development. Someone is messing with them and it’s not until right at the end that we find out more. It definitely surprised me and I’m certain that Damien is going to rain hell until he finds Anais.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to reading the next one. I would definitely recommend this series.

My rating: 5/5*

Savage Empire (Broken Cross Book 1) by Bri Blackwood

This is the first book in the Broken Cross series.

He’s a savage

Damien Cross treats New York City as if it’s his personal playground.

He sees.

He touches.

He conquers.

He holds the fate of my family in his hands

And makes a deal with me I can’t refuse.

He’ll forgive my father’s debt if he can have something in exchange: me.

I promised myself I wouldn’t get addicted, but nothing is guaranteed when you make a deal with a savage.

Now this debt is my cross to bear.

I really enjoyed this book. The storyline was good and I liked the characters.

I liked Anais. She was strong enough to deal with Damien’s shit and knew when to put her foot down, especially at the end. I think he needed that reality check. She wasn’t given any choice but to accept his demands.

I loved Damien even though he was an arsehole at times. He was growing to truly like her but his inability to face his demons cost him. I hope he opens up more to her.

I loved the tension and spark between them. Their bodies crave each other. I’m looking forward to seeing their relationship develop more.

The ending was very unexpected and I’m looking forward to seeing where it leads.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book and I’m looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

Submitting To Him by T.L. Conrad

Natalie Clarke is attending school in NYC on a full scholarship that includes a mandatory employment clause. There, she meets Alexander Montgomery: a successful businessman and sexy Dominant.

Drawn to both the BDSM lifestyle and Alex, Natalie agrees to become his submissive. Together, their chemistry is undeniable, their bond strong.

Their relationship is shaken when Natalie returns home to fulfill her work commitment. Ghosts of the past haunt her and pressure from her family causes her to falter, and to lose her fragile self-confidence. But must Natalie really accept the plan others made for her life, or can she face her adversities head-on and find her happily for now with Alex?

I enjoyed reading this book. The characters were good and I liked the storyline.

Alex was a brilliant character. I loved him. I liked his backstory and I loved how it shaped him into the man he was. I also liked how he met Natalie and he insistence on making everything work.

Natalie was also a good character and I sympathised when she had to move home. She was also incredibly frustrating because she clearly wasn’t as happy as she was in New York, and her parents were making everything more difficult. Alex offered to pay her fees and I think she was completely stupid to keep refusing him regardless of her reasoning.

Her reluctance was incredibly frustrating and the reason I dropped a star. The man would offer an arm and leg for her and she’d refuse. It was stupid because she wasn’t the girl she was when left all those years ago. She was losing herself and she knew it.

I liked the bit of drama with her ex, but it was just another reason why she shouldn’t have stayed there.

I loved seeing Alex and Natalies relationship grow as a Dom/sub, but also as they fell in love. I also liked seeing how they made the long distance work. Although there was a BDSM aspect to this book, the romance was definitely what took centre stage.

This book ends on a happy and rounded note, although I can see that it’s also been left open for continuation.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, but Natalie made me incredibly frustrated at times.

I would definitely recommend it.

The Billionaire’s Sub by M.S. Parker

This is the first book in the series.

Moving to Hollywood after graduation was supposed to be my first step into the adult world, a chance for me to live life on my terms. It’d worked for my older sister. I just hadn’t realized how much until she shared her darkest secret with me.

When twenty-one year-old Hanna Breckenridge moves across the country to take a job as her sister’s business manager, she has no idea the culture shock she’s in for. When billionaire Cross Phillips approaches her, she’s flattered, only to find out that he’d been interested for reasons far different than anything Hanna would’ve imagined. When things take a dangerous turn, she’s forced to decide just how much she can trust this gorgeous man.

I enjoyed reading this book. The characters were great and I liked the storyline.

I liked the plot with Hanna’s sister and the revelation about her bedroom preferences. Ultimately, it led to Hanna getting to know Cross.

I loved watching her relationship with Cross grow and develop. He was a great character and I liked the balance between the plot with her sister and her growth and learning with Cross. I think they were great together and I loved watching their feelings develop.

The ending was great with Hanna telling her sister about Cross and their relationship. It was great to see them all happy together.

Overall, this book was a nice quick, easy read with great characters and a good plot. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend it.

Craving Him by M. S. Parker and Casaie Wild

This is the final book in the Serving Him series.

When I first met Dominic Snow, he literally saved me from falling. I never dreamed I’d end up working for him. And I certainly didn’t plan on falling in love with him. We were an unlikely couple, far from conventional in his social circles, but I always assumed that if we’d made it through those first couple months, nothing could break us apart.

Twenty-one year-old Aleena Davison has it all. A job she loves and that pays well. An amazing, gorgeous man who happens to be rich and everything she could ever want in a lover.
She’s put up with a lot to keep this life, but what she faces now might be too much. Can she and Dominic get through it, or will their fairy tale come crashing down around them?

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a great end to the series and the characters were great.

Aleena and Dominic are both brilliant. They’ve been on a journey together and have both changed each other. Dominic is a complex character and this book continued with his growth. He learnt a lot about his past which had an impact on him and Aleena. Aleena was there for him the whole time, and I think they definitely needed each other.

The storyline was great. It tested their relationship and ultimately, made them both realise how much they needed each other. I enjoyed seeing their relationship grow. They had some hot moments which was great to read. The emotional growth between them only made these moments sweeter.

The ending was brilliant. Dominic realised how much he needed her after he messed up, and Aleena realised how much she needed him. The ending was a good happy one.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book. It was a brilliant ending to a great series.

Tempted by the CEO by Iona Rose

This is a standalone novel.

Well, well, well, Brett O’Connell, the boss’s bad-tempered, brilliant, insufferable son is going to take over the business while his father recuperates in hospital.

Not sure how I feel about this actually.

The man is as sexy as sin obviously. I mean, don’t even get me started on that firm, neat butt of his. And there are enough sparks flying between us to set a whole forest on fire, but I don’t generally go for overbearing, difficult, growly men.

This man is all that and more.

So…what to do?

Burn a whole forest down or pour a bucket of ice into my bath water every night.

Kinda liking the forest idea better at the moment.

This was a good book with a good storyline and good characters.

I liked Opal. She was very down to earth. I liked her thoughts when it came to Brett. She couldn’t deny the spark and pull towards him, but she also considered the reality of it. Ultimately, the spark won.

I also liked Brett. He was very much the same. I enjoyed watching them grow closer to one another, and ultimately, I enjoyed the happy ending. They were definitely good together and I enjoyed reading the moments between them.

This book was a quick and easy read and I would recommend it. I just felt it lacked a little depth.

Arrogant Boss by Olivia Hayle

This is a standalone novel.

Julian Hunt is a legend. A tech billionaire and a playboy philanthropist.

He’s not someone you meet, not without a six-month wait. Except I did—and not in that sweet, meet-cute kind of way. I wish.

No, I manage to run head-first into Julian Hunt in a nightclub. It’s the spill-my-drink-over-his-suit kind of headfirst, the break-my-heel kind.

But the arrogant bastard doesn’t leave. No, he carries me to my car. He implies that I fell on purpose to catch his attention—how dare he!—and after I’ve chewed him out, he asks for my number.

I don’t expect to see him again. After all, lightning doesn’t strike twice. Except it does, when Julian’s involved. Because when I walk into a business negotiation the next day, who’s sitting on the other side?

Julian Hunt.

He’s wearing a smirk and a perfectly tailored suit, and he’s not there to play. He dominates. I walk out of the negotiation having—somehow!—been offered my dream job. It’s an offer far too sweet to refuse.

But if there’s one thing more intimidating than Julian Hunt at a nightclub, it’s Julian Hunt as a boss. A persistent, dominant, sexy-as-hell boss.

He might have decided that we’d be perfect together, but I won’t be tempted by his broad shoulders and wicked tongue.

Julian might be a hunter

But I refuse to become prey.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters were great and the storyline was good.

Emily was a great character. I loved how she looked after her brother, and I enjoyed seeing her fall for Julian.

Julian was brilliant. He was the perfect man and I loved watching him fall for Emily.

I loved the dual POV because it was great seeing things develop from both of their perspectives. It was enjoyable watching things bloom between them. They really were a perfect match. Emily was stupid to want to keep it a secret, but I could also see her point of view. I was glad that Julian told her how it was, because it ultimately brought them closer together.

I thought the ending was good, a nice and happy one. Overall, it was en enjoyable easy read. Their relationship was brilliant and I loved the characters. I would definitely recommend this book.

Merged With Him (The Merge Book 1) by Kylie Kent

This is the first book in The Merge Series although it is also a standalone.

Alyssa

When my eyes met Zac’s from across the bar, I knew. I knew my heart was forever lost. I also knew I could never have him. It wasn’t just a matter of wrong place and wrong time. If only it were that simple. Being with Zac means risking everything — including my own life. I know I shouldn’t want him, but my heart won’t listen to reason, and neither will Zac.

Can the promises he makes of us, always having a tomorrow together, be real?

Zac

The moment I see Alyssa enter my club, I knew wanted her. Even as she sat across the bar with another man — I knew I’d make her mine. The moment our skin connected every cell in my body exploded like fireworks. That moment sealed her fate. I was keeping her. When someone threatens to take her away from me. I’m ready for war. I don’t have to go to hell and back to save the woman I love. I’m already there, my soul stained with the blood of those who thought they could cross me.

I promised her we would always have a tomorrow together, I don’t break my promises.

I loved reading this book. It was a nice quick read, the characters were great and I liked the storyline.

Alyssa was brilliant. She has a good background which made her relationship wih Zac mean more. She was a strong independent character beside the fact Zac could literally do anything for her. I loved her friends, particularly Reilly

Zac was perfect. He was everything a girl could want. I absolutely loved his character. I loved the duel POV, because it was great seeing them both come to terms with their feelings and how quick they developed. I loved how he took care of his sister and brother.

Their relationship was great. They had a clear spark between them from the very first moment, and I loved seeing it develop. They were pretty hot together.

The storyline was good. I liked how it affected them both and it only made them stronger. The ending was nice and happy.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. The characters were brilliant and I would definitely recommend it.

Craving The CEO by Iona Rose

This is a standalone novel.

I’d never had a one-night stand before and all I wanted to do was celebrate snagging my Interview at my anticipated new job, but he was cute on steroids. And then he went and smiled, and oh my, how much his parents must have spent on his teeth. He was downright edible.

I could be exaggerating though, I did have a little too much to drink. To cut the long story short, I went back to his hotel room… and it was a totally ah-mah-zing night.

Well, the rest is a bit sordid.

One night stands are supposed to be. You creep out, or he does. I stole the march on him and left before he opened those heavenly eyes. I filed the night away in my head under Fantastic Experiences.

When I was an old woman sitting on a rocking chair on my porch eating ice cream while my seven or even ten grand children played in the front yard, I would recall the night and tell me myself, “Blair, you scored well that night.”

Then I got ready for the Interview day at the new job I was celebrating. Thankfully I did get the job.

But now you must know where I’m going with this.

That’s right, that unforgettably gorgeous man I was going to be congratulating myself over when I was wrinkled and gray, he was my new boss!
And even without the alcohol he was climb-worthy, but I should add, he was what any reasonable woman would also call a boss-hole…

I really enjoyed this book. It was a nice easy read. The characters were great and I loved the storyline.

Blair is a great character. I love her wit and how she dealt with Grady and his moods. I loved Grady. He was a brilliant character. I loved the duel POV because it made you understand where they were both coming from.

I thought the way they met was great and I loved their reactions to finding out they were going to work together. Grady was an ass towards her and gave her a hard time, but the spark between them was hot. I loved watching their relationship develop once they both gave in to their desire.

I think the storyline with Gradys father and hers was good because ultimately, it’s what makes them admit their feelings for one another.

I loved seeing Grady realise that he loves her. The ending was great and I loved the epilogue.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it.
