Bound by Shadows

It’s release day!!!

Bound by Shadows is live on KU and available in paperback.

The Wielders are there to protect us. They serve the Kingdom and the Royal Family.

I never expected magic to awaken within me, to become one of them. Not just any Wielder, but a Shadow Wielder.

The same magic which flows through me, flows through the Crowned Prince, Roland Artemis. It’s down to us to give this Kingdom salvation from The Darkness and its brutal attacks.

How can I possibly focus on developing my wielding skills when the Prince is looking at me so intently? It would be so easy to lose myself in those blue eyes.

Maybe we share more between us than just our magic, like some deeper connection. Shadow Wielded Magic is the only type that can be channelled and shared after all. Maybe there’s a reason for that.

I needed to be careful, because the Kingdom and its people won’t be the only thing that I needed to protect. My heart may be on the line as well.

Zodiac Academy 6: Fated Throne by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

This is the sixth book in the Supernatural bullies and beasts series.

Fate has torn us apart and sometimes I believe the stars have given up on us altogether.

Without my sister, the world seems darker than ever before and the shadows loom thicker, rising up to answer the call of the Shadow Princess and changing the face of Solaria for good.

Now Lionel Acrux has the strength to make a move for the throne, I’m not sure how much time we have left to stop him.

Our only hope is to find the Imperial Star before he does. We made the sacrifice the stars called for and we’re paying the price for that decision so it can’t be for nothing.

But with the stars turning against us at every move, and the last light in the world seeming to fade, I’m afraid we’re almost out of time.

Hope is a dangerous thing. It’s the key to us fighting on. But it could be what destroys us in the end.

One thing is for certain, I won’t stop until I have been reunited with my other half and together we will fight to take our crowns.

A war is coming.

The throne is calling for a new monarch.

And someone must answer its call.

I’ll try and make this series as spoiler free as I can manage, but this book wasn’t half a roller-coaster of a ride to read.

I absolutely love this series. It’s absolutely fantastic. The storyline is amazing, the characters are absolutely brilliant and the plot keeps developing well.

F#cking Lionel.

It was amazing how much I said those words. Jesus christ that man is a monster. I’ve never hated anyone a much as I hate that dragon. He’s just… Ugh. The whole way through this book he was ughh. He keeps getting worse and worse. I can’t wait to see that monster of a man die.

I felt so sorry for his family. Catalina, Xavier and Darius put up with so much shit. My heart went out for them with the way he treats them. At least there was a small bit of good in this book with Catalina.

I loved Xavier and Geraldine’s chapters in this book. I love them both. It was brilliant to see Xavier come into his own in the academy, and seeing him with Sofia and wanting to become the Dom. There was plenty of humour. Geraldine is just the best. I love her. Tory and Darcy are so lucky to have her support, even if she’s a little over the top at time. I love her relationship with Max as well. I seriously hope that they end up together at some point.

Caleb and Seth were both brilliant together in this book. I loved it when Rosalie made an appearance. I seriously hope these two admit their feelings to each other at some point. They were annoyingly close at one point.

This book seemed to be the King of interrupting good moments.

The Heirs in general all became fantastic. It’s amazing how I hated them at the beginning and love them all now. Their support for helping Darcy and Tory is brilliant, and their willingness to risk their lives for them is endearing.

Oh god, my heart went out for Tory in this book. Jesus christ, what she went through with Lionel. That monster of a man. It was so hard to read her being Guardian Bonded to daddy dragon. I loved what Darcy and the others did for her and eventually she owned that shit.

Lionel Acrux seriously needs to die though.

Clara is a phycho. I loved what we learnt about her though. It was satisfying to learn more about the Shadow Princess. I really want to see that bitch die though. Even at the end, the bloody shadows. Gah. What the hell had that bitch done to Darcy at the end? There better be a way to fix it.

Darcy was absolutely fantastic in this book. She was so fierce and strong. I loved that she got everyone pheonix weapons. I loved her relationship with Seth in this book. He’s a fantastic friend and I loved seeing him trying to make Lance jealous.

Lance Orion is the best. I’m in love with him. I loved what happened to him in this book, although it wasn’t freedom either. His relationship with Darcy is everything, and as frustrating as it is, I was kind of glad that she didn’t forgive him straight away. He needed to grovel.

I don’t want to spoil too much, but the moments at the end between them were everything

Amongst everything going wrong, there was still plenty of humour. Geraldine in general, Xavier and his dijazzle.

I loved the prophecies, even though they are very cryptic. Gabriel is the best. Thank god he’s there, because he is literally saving everyone’s lives.

The stars are arseholes.

Darius. Holy shit, what have you done? The ending. God, I seriously hope that there’s a way around it. That sacrifice. Ahh. I get that he needed to agree to it, because it was the reason that everyone got away at the end. But by the stars, there has to be a way to change it. I don’t think I can cope if there isn’t.

I loved the moments he got with Tory and the fact he agreed to that price shows his love for her. I hope they make the most of it and steal the moments they never got to have.

The ending was brilliant and rather than a cliffhanger, it was a more natural place to stop. The whole ending was excellent, exciting, tense, action packed. Par what Darius did, it was brilliant. I loved the fact everyone was there to help.

At least they had a small win against Lionel… Kind of. I have to hand it to our Celestial Authors…

Overall, this is one of my favourite series, and our Celestial Authors have completely outdone themselves again. This book was a emotional roller-coaster. I would completely recommend this series, although you have to start from the beginning with book 1. I can’t wait for the next book, the final book in the series.

P.S f#cking Lionel.

And apologies for the language, but that’s the best way I can sum up my feelings towards Lionel Acrux.

Zodiac Academy 4: Shadow Princess by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

This is the 4th book in the Zodiac Academy series.

The shadows are in my blood.
I can feel them crawling through me, slithering under my skin and taking me hostage.

But the darkness within me, isn’t nearly as bad as the darkness that lives around me.

The four heirs will stop at nothing to destroy the lives of me and my sister.

But they haven’t figured out yet, we’re the strongest creatures they’ve ever known…

I absolutely love this series.

This book was brilliant to read. The storyline is brilliant, the plot develops well and the characters are fantastic.

I love Darcy and Tory. They are so different from one another, yet together they are invincible. They are written so brilliantly that you really feel everything they feel. Their journey is fantastic to read. They keep developing amd becoming stronger as the books go on.

Darcy and Lance’s relationship is everything. It’s brilliant. I love them together. Their moments together are spectacular to read and their connection to eachother is absolutely brilliant.

Darius is having a brilliant character development as the books go on. I really like him now, although he is far too stubborn, which only adds to his connection with Tory.

I really hate Seth. He’s written so well that I really do hate him. He is the worst one of the Heirs. Everything he does is cruel whilst at least the others have moments where they’re alright.

The world building is part of what makes this series fantastic. You can visualise everything so well. The Orders are brilliant and each one has its own unique characteristic which spills out to how they act in fae form. The concept behind star signs having such a prominent meaning is brilliant. The faebook posts and horoscopes just add to the greatness of it. You can’t fault this amazing world.

The whole plot with the shadows has been great to read. It has been interesting seeing Darcy and Tory learn to deal with this new 5th element, and the added aspect with Clara made it all the more interesting.

The ending.

What have you done? It was absolutely gut wrenching, not just once, but twice!

The whole book helps develop you emotionally towards these characters, and then the ending happens. It’s an emotional roller-coaster to read and has left me feeling a bit shell shocked.

I don’t know how it’s going to be fixed, but somehow it better or I don’t think I can cope.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this series. It’s absolutely brilliant. The character development is fantastic, the storyline is brilliant and the writing is faultless. The next book couldn’t come soon enough because the ending needs to be fixed somehow.

My rating: 5/5
