There are three rules to survive the elite supernatural school:
- Do not talk or even look at The Seven, the uber-powerful supes that rule the academy.
- Never go into the Fae forest on a full moon… or else.
- And most definitely do not fall for one of the extremely hot and unattainable instructors.
Too bad I’ve never really been a rule follower…
A year ago the supernaturals came out of the closet on primetime TV, and about a minute ago I, Luna Hallows, found out I was one of them—well, a half-blood anyway.
So here I am at Darkhen Academy, the only human and no magical abilities to speak of. The only reason I’m here is because of my father—a man I didn’t even know existed until now. He’s crazy powerful, and they think I could be too. But what could I possibly contribute to an exclusive squad of dragon shifters, fae, witches, and vampires?
I guess we’re about to find out because the merging of the supernatural and human realms isn’t going as smoothly as planned. If word gets out that humans are no longer safe from the supes, our worlds will once again be closed off.
It’s up to us to stop that from happening.
I enjoyed this book. It had a good storyline and the characters were good.
Luna was a good main character. She may be human, but after being thrown into this new life, she copes well. It was good seeing her character develop into the strong girl she ends up as at the end. I’m looking forward to seeing how she continues to grow and develop alongside her powers.
The other characters were good. The 7 were all interesting characters. They were all different and had their own traits. I’m looking forward to seeing how the relationship between Luna and the squad grows now she’s a part of them.
Ryder was a great character. I loved reading the relationship between Luna and him grow. It was a little frustrating at points, like, just go for it, but I understood his reservations. I’m intrigued to see how the relationship develops in the next book.
I liked the storyline although it did take me a little while to get into. The last third of the book did really pick up though. I also felt the way it went around swearing was annoying. Either do it or don’t. Don’t do the annoying half swearing/word switching thing that was going on. It was annoying to read.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this book. The storyline was good, the characters were good and the plot generally developed well.
I was debating over my rating for this book, whether it be 4 or 5*. The last third of the book really grabbed me though so I opted to go higher, but it’s only just scraping that 5. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the next book though.
