Uppercut Princess (The Heights Crew Book 1) by E. M. Moore

This is the first book in The Heights Crew series.

Vengeance is NOT my middle name.

It’s in my blood.

It’s tattooed on my skin.

It’s with me 24/7. The thing that drives me.

It’s also what brings me to Rawley Heights. No one would willingly come here otherwise. But me? I don’t have a choice.

Here, everyone fears the Heights Crew. They’re not just some small-town gang, they’re the real deal. Crime. Sex. Murder. Angry, self-obsessed dudes with bad attitudes.

And they’re exactly who I need to get my vengeance from.

I have my work cut out for me, but don’t worry, they have no idea who they’re dealing with.

I’m counting on it.

I absolutely loved this book, and it had me completely gripped. The storyline was great, the characters were fantastic and the plot developed at a good pace.

Kyla is a great main character. She has a plan and she’s determined to see it through no matter what. She’s strong and feisty, and she’s dealing with the situation she’s in well.

I loved Johnny. He’s the sort of character you’re not meant to like, but I found myself really liking him. I think he’s just a product of his upbringing. Even though he’s essentially claimed Kyla, I do get the impression that he actually cares about her. He’s fiercely possessive. He’s morales aren’t completly right, but I’m hoping that Kyla can help change that. I’m actually really hoping that Kyla and Johnny’s relationship grows and develops into something real.

I likes Oscar and Brawler too. They are both strong characters although very different. She seems to have a natural connection to Brawler, especially after his past. Oscar however, she doesn’t, yet they still seem to click. Magnum is the mystery. He obviously feels something towards Kyla with all of his staring and help, but he’s not giving much away. I’m intrigued to how his character is going to develop.

The storyline was great. We gradually learn more about the gang situation, yet it’s not the whole story. I’m looking forward to seeing how the story develops in the next book.

The cliffhanger had me enough that I started the next book in the series straight away. The ending was definitely a turn of events, so I’m looking forward to seeing the consequences of that in the next book.

Overall, I absolutely loved reading this book, and I would definitely recommend it.

My rating: 5/5*
