Binding Rose (Mafia Wars) by Ivy Fox

This is the first book in a shared world series called Mafia Wars. Each book is a standalone.

I was sold to my enemies.

You would think that being forced into a loveless marriage to ensure an alliance would be unheard of in this day and age. And in most cases, you would be correct in that assumption.

But not for me.

A cartel princess has no vote on who she can or cannot marry—much less love.
Any decision in my life was forfeited just by being born into the most powerful Mexican cartel there is.

Still, it does sting that I’m to be hand-delivered to the Irish mob and marry into the Kelly family, who my own brother has coined to be nothing more than bloodthirsty savages.

They’re animals, Rosa. Filthy, unscrupulous, vicious animals.

Those were his exact words, yet he still followed our father’s orders to walk me down the aisle, making sure I didn’t run from my obligation.

As if that was even an option.

All my choices were stolen away from me the minute I became another pawn to be used and abused at the hands of evil men.

Which leaves me to question…

Can a rose blossom in the dark?
Or will I have to rely on my thorns to protect me against the fate that’s been bestowed upon me?

Only time will tell if I’ll survive this cursed life or become another lost soul in these cruel and merciless Mafia Wars.

I absolutely loved this book. The storyline was brilliant, the characters were great and the plot developed well.

The book sets the world and situation up well. We’re introduced to the Mafia Wars and the different families involved.

I absolutely loved Rosa. She was sold to the Kelly family as part of the treaty where she’s forced to marry Tiernen. She’s an incredibly strong character to put up with him. He was a right dick at the beginning, blaming her for something which wasn’t her fault. She was such a kind hearted person, but she knew what was like and what her role was.

Tiernen was a frustrating character, but I grew to love him. He despised her because of her family. He was forced into the marriage as much as she was. Just when they started to connect, he withdraws. From there on he was a right dick, especially when he brought Shay and Colin into the situation.

I loved Shay and Colin. They cared and looked out for Rosa and I loved the connection between them from the start. They were always going to fall for each other after the situation Tiernen put them in.

I loved how the plot developed. Tiernen had a fantastic development and seeing his POV only made you love him more by the end. He had to change and he did. The three of them were brilliant with Rosa by the end and there were definitely some hot moments at times. The ending was brilliant.

This book was a fantastic start and introduction to this shared world. The characters were fantastic and I’m intrigued to read the others. Even though they are all standalones, we met Tiernen’s sister before her own wedding as well as Rosa’s brother before his.

Overall, I loved this book and I would definitely recommend it.

My rating: 5/5*
