His Pretty Little Burden (Kids of The District Book 4) by Nicci Harris

This is the fourth book in the Kids of the District series, but it can be read without the previous books.

His Pretty Little Burden

Sweet little Fawn is the daughter of a boss in The District Cosa Nostra.

The daughter of the man who betrayed my family.

Not only is she a burden—barely eighteen, naïve, the epitome of a little deer in headlights-
But she is too damn pretty.

Too pretty to have clawed her way through life, merely surviving.

Too pretty to be so utterly vulnerable, alone, and asking for help from the deadliest man in the city—me.

Christ. She is too pretty to be walking my halls at midnight.

Too damn pretty. . . to not be mine.
My pretty little burden.
.

I absolutely loved this book. The characters are brilliant and I loved the story.

Fawn is a great character. She’s vulnerable and naive, but I loved seeing her thoughts and watching her slowly grow. She had been through so much that she was also brave and strong. She needed someone like Clay to treat her right. She deserved it.

Clay, my god, that man. I loved watching his progression and seeing his emotions develop. He was so cold to begin with and was using her, and then it progressed to a craving for her body. It took a little while, but I loved seeing his emotions grow. The end was perfect.

I loved the spice. I love Clays dominance. The connection between them was brilliant and it was no surprise that Fawn fell hard and fast. Nobody had ever treated her like that before. They had a clear spark from the beginning and it only got better when the emotions grew.

I enjoyed the storyline with what happened to Fawn blended with her father and Jimmy. The Mafia aspect is great.

It ends in a relatively HFN, although it would be impossible to not read the next book. I really want to know how things develop.

Overall, this book is brilliant. The characters are great and the plot of good. I would definitely recommend it.

Zayn

I never expected to find my quiet neighbour standing on my doorstep covered in blood and begging me for help.
How could I refuse her when those blue eyes looked so scared? The fear only made her more attractive. I knew that I wasn’t a good man, so I saw an opportunity and I took it.
A small price for clearing up her mess.
She was mine for the next three months, at my service to do whatever I wished.

Lilian.

It was only a matter of time before I snapped. The blood, the mess, the body. I didn’t know what to do.
Go to the cops or the dangerous man next door. Be his toy or go to jail. It was an easy choice.
I thought I picked the lesser evil, but maybe I was wrong.
It turns out that Zayn lives up to his reputation, and now I’m completely at his service.
Maybe there’s a heart in there somewhere, or is his soul completely blackened?
I was soon going to find out.

Bound By Shadows (The Wielders book 1)

COVER REVEAL

Bound By Shadows

The Wielders are there to protect us. They serve the Kingdom and the Royal Family.

I never expected magic to awaken within me, to become one of them. Not just any Wielder, but a Shadow Wielder.

The same magic which flows through me, flows through the Crowned Prince, Roland Artemis. It’s down to us to give this Kingdom salvation from The Darkness and its brutal attacks.

How can I possibly focus on developing my wielding skills when the Prince is looking at me so intently? It would be so easy to lose myself in those blue eyes.

Maybe we share more between us than just our magic, like some deeper connection. Shadow Wielded Magic is the only type that can be channelled and shared after all. Maybe there’s a reason for that.

I needed to be careful, because the Kingdom and its people won’t be the only thing that I needed to protect. My heart may be on the line as well.

Joined By Magic (Ruled By Magic Book 3) by Zara J Black

This is the third and final book in the Ruled by Magic series.

Talia

I’m Prince Adante’s prized possession, his to punish, train and protect. And he’s lost everything except me.

Hiding in a strange country, he’s plotting revenge. But I get a taste of freedom, and an offer that seems too good to be true. When I discover a hidden underworld, the chance for a new life opens up, but there’s a downside.

The prince isn’t part of the deal.

Liv

I’m Leo’s good girl. His beautiful toy. And I’m hopelessly in love with my former captor.

Fighting for a place in a society that doesn’t want me, I walk a tightrope between obedience and a life of my own.

A reckless gamble leads me into danger and rips away the last shreds of my old life. I’m caught between two countries, and a target in both.

Who can I trust when every ally holds a knife behind their back?

I absolutely loved this book. The characters are fantastic and I loved the story.

It was fantastic seeing both couples stories come together in this book.

I loved Leo since the first book, but Adante grew on me in the second. Seeing the differences in how Leo treated Liv in comparison to Adante and Talia in this book just made me love Leo more. I actually felt a little sorry for Talia, especially when she saw Leo willing to put Liv first. Comparing them, Talia really had little freedom, even when they were on the run. Adante treated her as a possession.

I think both women were brilliant. Both were strong and independent, yet obeyed their men, especially in the bedroom. Of course, Adante was far more demanding and didn’t really give Talia much choice until nearer the end. It was great seeing his feelings develop and I loved seeing him realise that he loved her.

I loved seeing both of their relationships grow and develop. Both had come so far. I enjoyed seeing Liv and Talia grow and find their positions in the world. Of course, it was probably a little easier for Liv because Leo was willing to do anything for her. It took Adante a lot longer to treat Talia as an equal.

The story was good and I loved how it developed. I loved seeing Adante learn the truth and actually accept what Leo said to him. It was nice to see both men working together.

I felt sorry for Adante when he thought that he lost Talia, but I also think that he needed it. It made him realise that he loved her and I absolutely loved seeing him finally admit it to her. He had a fantastic character growth and I loved seeing him change things for the better at the end.

The spice was brilliant and I loved how dominant both men were. I also loved how they incorporated their magic into the bedroom.

The epilogue was fantastic. I loved seeing both couples in the future and seeing everyone get their happy ending. It was also great to see them still in contact with one another.

Overall, this series is fantastic. Everything came together in this book and I loved seeing where everyone’s stories ended up. It was the perfect ending to a great series. I would definitely recommend it.

Buttons and Hate by Penelope Sky

This is the second book in the buttons series.

I’m working off my buttons.

But I’m also giving them away.

The more I fall for Crow, the more I want him to do the things that I want.

Dinners, dates, and evenings at the beach.

Everything comes at a price, and the hoard of buttons I worked hard to earn are quickly depleted.

Will this go back and forth forever? Or will someone run out of their buttons first?

I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters are brilliant and the story and plot flow well.

I love Pearl. She’s such a strong character. Even after everything she’s been through, she stays strong and as independent as she can be.

Crow is frustrating. I absolutely loved how his relationship with Pearl has grown into some more, but he is so stubborn and stuck in his head that he won’t admit the truth or face how he really feels. I’m mad with him after the ending.

The story is good. I like how Pearls relationship with Cane took a nose dive before building again. She got through a lot once again, but this time she had Crow there to pick up the pieces.

Crow better go after her and I really want to see them take Bones down together. The spark and spice between them is smoking hot, but there’s also emotion involved. Emotion that Crow can’t seem to face. I hope he realises what his stubbornness has cost him so that he can go and fix his mess.

Overall, this book was great and I’m looking forward to reading the next. I would definitely recommend it.

Diamond in the Dark (Savage Jewels Book 1) by Poppy Jacobson

This is the first book in the Savage Jewels series which can be read as a standalone.

First they break me. Then they claim me. All I want is freedom from the world I left.

When my sister called me, panicked because her surprise pregnancy violated the terms of her soon-to-be-arranged marriage, I took her place in a Faustian bargain with the three men who’d intended to buy her.

My new partners are violent and uncompromising men who threaten everything I’ve built over the past decade. Will I find a way to stand before them as an equal? Or will they drive me straight into the danger I so desperately tried to escape?

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were great and the plot was good.

I loved the story. Ginevra sells herself to save her sister and fully dives back in to the mafia life. She asserts herself among the men. She was such a strong, brave character.

I loved the three men. Rian, Liam and Cormac are all fantastic. I loved their relationship with Ginevra and also with each other. They are harsh to her at the beginning, trying to break her like they planned, but she is strong. She fights back and proves that she deserves more.

I loved watching them realise her strength. They eventually admire it. The scenes between them are all brilliant and very steamy. I loved the dynamic and her submission to them in the bedroom. I also loved how the boys focused on each other as well.

The story is also full of action and I loved how things progressed. After everything that Ginevra went through, the ending was great.

I would definitely recommend this book. The storyline and characters are great.

Ruthless Creatures (Queens & Monsters Book 1) by J.T. Geissinger

This is the first book in the Queens and Monsters series.

Five years ago, my fiancé disappeared. He left me with a wedding dress I’d never wear. Left me with the kind of scars that can’t be healed. The man I built my future on vanished like a ghost. All that remained were my broken heart and a million unanswered questions.

Until a mysterious stranger arrives in town.

Tall, dark, and dangerous, Kage is as full of secrets as he is sex appeal. Though I know he’s hiding something, I’m drawn to him like a moth to flame.

Heat crackles between us with every look, desire flares into passion, and I fall hard, helpless to resist.

But then I discover he’s been sent to collect on an unpaid debt from my missing fiancé…

And that debt is me.

I loved this book. The characters were great and the story was good.

I love Kage. God, the mouth on that man. I loved how someone so tough and ruthless could also be so romantic. I loved Nat as well. She’s been through so much and get’s thrown into the crossfire without knowing why.

The story is good. You keep wondering what Kage is hiding. He should have told her earlier because the way it came out wasn’t ideal. Natalie was always going to react badly.

I loved Kage’s devotion to her. He made a choice, which was her, and he stuck by it no matter what. The spark between them was great and I loved how her always waited for her permission to do anything. The situation wasn’t ideal between them, but they had feelings that they couldn’t deny. In the end, Kage made everything right.

Sloane was brilliant as well. I loved the conversations between her and Natalie. The epilogue was great and I’m so glad that she’s getting her own book. I’m looking forward to reading it.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. The characters were great and I liked the storyline. I would definitely recommend it.

The Ritual by Shantel Tessier

This is a standalone book

THE CHOSEN ONE

I vow. You vow. We vow.

Barrington University is home of the Lords, a secret society that requires their blood in payment. They are above all—the most powerful men in the world. They devote their lives to violence in exchange for power. And during their senior year, they are offered a chosen one.

People think growing up with money is freeing, but I promise you, it’s not. My entire life has been planned out for me. I never got the chance to do what I wanted until Ryat Alexander Archer came along and gave me an option for a better life. He offered me what no one else ever had—freedom.

I chose to be his. He made me believe that anyway, but it was just another lie. A way that the Lords manipulate you into doing what they want.

After being sucked into the dark, twisted world of the Lords, I embraced my new role and allowed Ryat to parade me around like the trophy I was to him. But like all things, what started out as a game soon became a fight for survival. And the only way out was death.

I absolutely loved reading this book. The storyline was brilliant and the characters were amazing.

Ryat was such a good character. He was swoon worthy, dominant in all the right ways, fierce, dark, delicious, and yet passionate. I was a little sceptical of his motives at first when it came to Blake. As the story untold, it became clear of the arrangement, but it soon developed into something real and I loved watching their relationship grow. He became obsessed with here in such an edearing way. I loved that she became his world.

Blake was a strong character. She stood up for herself, but she was also forced into things and given no choice. I loved how she handled Ryat. There were too many secrets and lies, and it took a long time for everything to come out in the open.

The spice between them was on another level. Ryat, Christ, that man. He would make anyone melt. I loved reading the scenes between them, and the variety to them. Then seeing it grow into something so real was the icing on the cake.

The story was brilliant and I loved the secret society thing. There were twists and turns along the way, some of which I never saw coming. I loved diving deeper in the Lords and the settings were all great. It was great seeing Ryat and Blake fight everything which came their way.

Overall, this book was fantastic. The storyline and characters were brilliant and this was a deliciously dark, fantastic read. I would definitely recommend it.

Tyrant (The Villetti Chronicles Book 1) by Sarah Bailey

This is the first book in the Villetti Chronicles.

What would you do if you killed someone?

Normal people wouldn’t go running to the prodigal son of a mafia kingpin for help.
I’m not exactly normal.

The daughter of a gang leader embroiled in a turf war. One that has me caught in the crossfire. When you have nowhere else to turn, who better to protect you than someone your own father will never suspect.

Zayn Villetti isn’t a man I should make a deal with. Especially not one involving becoming his little pet.
He demands I obey him in all things.
I’ve never been one to submit.

I have a feeling the man I’ve known most of my life will be my downfall. With his obligations to his family and my presence throwing his world into disarray. My question is… will I be his?

I absolutely loved reading this book. the characters were fantastic and the storyline was great.

I love Zayn. Christ, that man was perfect. He was demanding, tough and dark, and yet he was everything. He gave everything to Ari. He loved hard and would literally burn the world down for her. What isn’t perfect about that?

Ari was a great character. She pushed his buttons in the right way and grew to understand him. I loved watching her feelings slowly grow towards him, developing from platonic to sexual. It was brilliant when he finally gave in. I quite liked the daddy dynamic. It suited Zayn’s personality and Ari melted into the role well. He liked her pushing his buttons and she enjoyed his retaliation. The ending was good as well and I liked what he offered her. It was perfect for them.

The story was great from her murder at the beginning, to his family and father. It brought Zayn and Ari closer together. They both needed each other. As I said, he would burn down the world down for her.

Overall, I absolutely loved this story. The characters were brilliant and the plot developed well. I’m looking forward to reading the next book about his brother. I would definitely recommend this book.

Owned by Magic (Ruled by Magic Book 2) by Zara J Black

This is the second book in the Rules by Magic series.

I’ll be safe in the prince’s bed, from everyone but him.

I stole from a brutal street gang, and now they want me dead. There’s only one place they can’t touch me. The palace. But safety comes at the cost of my freedom. I’ll sell myself as a courtesan, serve for five years, and leave with enough money to pay my debt.

Crown Prince Adante wields his power like a knife, and when his gaze turns my way, I know he could destroy me. An innocent mistake earns his attention—along with bruised knees and a painful punishment.

I should listen to the others. I shouldn’t catch his eye again. But I’ve always courted danger, and in the prince, I see a chance at power and revenge. He loves to gamble—sadistic games of pleasure and pain.

All I can wager are my body, mind, and soul. And I play to win.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are brilliant and the storyline was good.

I went into this book unsure about how I would find Adante. He came across as a right dick in the last book so I was half expecting to hate him. It’s safe to say that I was pleasantly surprised.

Adante was a brilliant character. You understood him more in this book. He started out as a bit of a dick and was a little harsh at times, but as the story progressed, you slowly understood him. Talia was a great character. She was strong, independent and intelligent. I like how her relationship with the Prince grew. They were both using each other and then it became something real. The spice between them was brilliant as well.

It was interesting to see how things progressed from his point of view regarding the events at the end of the last book. The King seems to be the one feeding the fire here, and clearly Adante and Leo don’t know each others thoughts. The situation could be easily fixed really without the whole ordeal with occurred if they just communicated without the King being a dick.

I’m looking forward to reading the next book and seeing how everything pans out.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book. The series is great with fantastic characters.
